At Northport Public School, we believe every success deserves to be celebrated! Through our Student of the Month and Wildcat Award programs, we recognize students who demonstrate outstanding achievement, positive character, meaningful growth, and perseverance. Each honoree represents the many ways our Wildcats learn, lead, and make progress.
Student of the Month
Celebrating Achievement
The Northport Student of the Month recognition celebrates students who consistently demonstrate high levels of academic achievement, positive behavior, and strong attendance at school.
These students demonstrate a sustained commitment to their learning, make responsible choices, follow school expectations, and come to school regularly and ready to learn. They consistently model the qualities we want to see in all Northport Wildcats and serve as positive examples for their peers.
Student of the Month recognizes students who are demonstrating consistent excellence across academics, behavior, and attendance and who are making the most of their opportunities to learn and grow at Northport. school community.
Elementary Student of the Month

Brhianna Ugalde
I am thrilled to recognize Brhiana as our Elementary Student of the Month. Brhi embodies our Northport ‘Portrait of a Graduate’ values through her academic excellence, goal-oriented mindset, and outstanding character. She perseveres through every challenge, actively engages in classroom discussions, and takes great pride in producing high-quality work. Always respectful, responsible, and receptive to feedback, Brhi sets a wonderful example for our entire school community. Congratulations, Brhiana, and thank you for your exceptional effort!
Secondary Student of the Month

Jace Kohler
Jace is an outstanding candidate for Student of the Month because he consistently demonstrates strong academic effort, responsibility, respect, and all of our Habits of Character. He is kind to his peers, respectful toward others, and highly motivated and self-driven in his learning.
Jace is a deep thinker who takes the time to truly understand what he is learning, the success criteria, and what is being asked of him. He asks thoughtful follow-up questions, carefully analyzes ideas, and takes pride in doing his best work. He is willing to step outside of his comfort zone, approach new challenges with an open mind, and demonstrate a strong growth mindset.
In Junior English, Jace has become a solid and positive voice in the classroom. He is an eager participant and a valuable contributor to class discussions, often adding thoughtful ideas that help move the conversation forward. He is also helpful to his classmates and is well-liked by his peers.
Jace’s maturity, curiosity, positive attitude, and commitment to learning make him an excellent example for other students. He consistently demonstrates what it means to be a respectful, responsible, and engaged Wildcat.

Celebrating Growth & Progress
The Northport Wildcat Award is all about celebrating the journey of progress and the power of continuous improvement. It highlights students who are actively moving forward by building better habits, putting in extra effort, and making noticeable strides in their daily school life. Whether it’s steadily raising grades, coming to school more consistently, handling challenges with greater resilience, or simply growing in confidence and positive attitude, this award honors any step in the right direction. Even small, meaningful improvements in just one area are worth celebrating as students keep working hard to reach their full potential.
Elementary Wildcat Award

Weston Chippewa
Weston is making meaningful growth this school year. He comes to school ready to learn and consistently puts forth effort, even when learning is challenging. When he makes a mistake, or does not succeed the first time, Weston works to learn from it and tries again. He is becoming more confident in his ability to work though challenges and take ownership of his learning. Weston is also a kind and supportive friend who contributes positively to the classroom and our school community. His growth, effort, and perseverance make him a wonderful example of a Northport Wildcat.
Secondary Wildcat Award

Justin Miller
Justin has started this school year with a new sense of organization, purpose, and focus. He is attentive during lessons, makes the most of class time, and has become increasingly engaged with his learning. His growth in these areas has been exciting to see.Justin is also a positive and enthusiastic influence in 8th grade CREW and English. His forward-looking attitude and willingness to try new things are infectious, and he brings creativity and energy to the classroom. He approaches projects with genuine curiosity, thinks outside the box, and demonstrates a strong growth mindset.
Justin’s character extends beyond the classroom as well. His decision to volunteer at Leelanau Uncaged, where he spent two hours creating “Terrible Portraits” for festival-goers, was a great example of his initiative and willingness to contribute. He gave his time and creativity simply because he was excited about the project and wanted to help make the event a success.Justin’s organization, focus, positive attitude, creativity, and willingness to go above and beyond make him a very deserving recipient of the Wildcat Award.
